New Church Design - Budget: 2.75 Million
This building was designed to accommodate 600 Parishioners within the
Sanctuary. The plan successfully incorporates a full range of elements
that support worship, community and music. Parishioners typically access
the Sanctuary through the spacious, sun-filled Parish Center. Upon entering
the Sanctuary, congregants are surrounded by an abundance of naturally
finished wood.

Sanctuary Restoration - Budget: 2 Million
One of the challenges of this restoration was to assist the committee
to determine which period the Sanctuary should be restored too, because
it had been renovated twice before. It was too cost prohibitive to replicate
some of the detailing, but other details consistent with the architectural
style of the building were designed in their place.

New Church Building and Restoration to existing Parish Center
- Budget approx. 4 Million
From it's inception as a mission church to St. Patrick's in Monson,
ST. Mary's Parish has continued to grow and thrive. Recognizing that
they had outgrown their 1963 vintage worship space, the parish made
the decision to carefully study their facility needs for the next century.
In an effort to both improve the liturgy and accommodate their greater
numbers we have developed a design for a new church building which would
be added to their 8 acre site. The new worship space will allow the
parish to truly gather "around" the altar while allowing for
more room in the sanctuary as well as a generous space for parishioners
to mingle before and after mass.

Sanctuary Expansion - New Parish Center
Our task was to provide a conceptual solution to expand the existing
worship space by relocating all of the non-worship functions to a new
Parish Center addition. This addition was designed to integrate into
the existing building while adapting to the sloping site, by providing
a lower level function space. At the intersection of the building and
building addition, the design included a gathering space for access
to both the worship space and the new Parish Center.

New Church and Community Facilities
The first phase of construction will include a multi-level Community
Building for the Church, which will provide for a multitude of functions,
from religious education to recreation and worship space.

Sanctuary Expansion to 950 Seats
The original brick structure was expanded in the 1980's to accommodate
650 people. As the community has continued to grow, expansion is once
again required. The Parish complex is located in Simsbury Center and
therefore, the architectural appeal of the design solution is a major
issue. One of the great challenges of this project, is to maintain use
of the existing sanctuary for as long as possible during the construction
period.
